Narrative

Entered the service in 1965 was drafted by my "friends and neighbors" Then went to Fort Loenardwood in Missouri induction, from there to Fort Hood, TX for basic in 1st Armored Div, went to Fort Rucker, Al for helicopter maintenance then back to Fort Hood. In 1966 got my orders for Vietnam, was stationed in the central highlands at An Khe, then our unit was moved up north to Chu Lai. When I returned to the States I ETS out. Vietnam was an eye opening experience for a rural guy that had never been anywhere.
