Narrative

Died in France of cerebro-spinal meningitis. Buried Highwater Lutheran Church Cemetery, Windom, Cottonwood County, Minnesota.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Halvorson of Lamberton, Minn. Upon entering the service he was sent to Spartanburg, S. C., where he received his military training. He was then transferred to Newport News, Va., and on August 30, 1918, he sailed for France. Here he received further training, but it is not known whether he was at the front or not. on Oct. 28, 1918, he died at the U. S. Army Base Hospital of cerebro-spinal meningitis. Private Halvorson was confirmed in the Highwater Lutheran church Oct. 15, 1918. He leaves to mourn him his father, mother, six sisters and four brothers.

"Pvt. Henry B. Halvorson entered Co. F Pioneer Infantry. Late in August of 1918 his company arrived in France. There he contracted Spinal Meningitis, and died in a hospital in the month of October, 1918. The body was buried in a French Cemetery, but after the war it was sent to the United States and interred in the HIghwater Lutheran Cemetery, Cottonwood County, Minnesota .
