NarrativeBody destroyed in battle. On the Honor Roll of Cottonwood County is the name Alfred B. Hanson as one of Cottonwood County's heroes. He was the son of James B. and Anna (Christianson) Hanson of Mountain Lake, Minnesota. He entered the service 21 Sep 1917, at Windom, Minnesota, and was sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa, where he was in training for several months. He was then transferred to Camp Pike, Arkansas, into Company B, 346th Infantry, 87th Division. He was again transferred on 10 Jun 1918, to Company I, 163d Infantry, sailing for France the same month. Here he was transferred to Company G., 47th Infantry. We were unable to ascertain what battles he was in but on 25 Oct 1918 he was killed in action. 47th Infantry Regiment, World War I: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne; Champagne 1918; Lorraine 1918. |
