NarrativeArika enlisted in 2003 and attended basic training at Fort Jackson, graduating in April 2004. She then went to Fort Sam Houston and complete advanced individual training as a Medic. Arika originally enlisted as a Private First Class (PFC) and was later promoted to Specialist (SPC). She was initially assigned to an air ambulance as a Flight Medic, and earned qualification as an aircrew member. She was later assigned to the State Medical Detachment. In 2005, she was selected for the Minnesota National Guard Norwegian Exchange Program, and participated in training in Norway with the Norwegian Home Guard. |
