Don Gladson (left) and his soon to be wife of more than five decades, Cadet 1st Class Jan Beinert of the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps, celebrate at Rhoads Hospital in New Hartford, New York. Both would settle in Osseo, Minnesota for several decades, followed by Northern Minnesota, owning and operating the Whispering Waters Resort on East Lost Lake. | |
NarrativeU.S. Army Sgt. Donald Duane Gladson, who served as a medical noncommissioned officer, would crisscross the Atlantic ocean four times during World War II as a part of the 468th Hospital Ship Platoon, treating wound servicemembers on their way back to hospitals on the East coast of the continental United States. There he would meet his future wife of more than five decades, Cadet 1st Class Jan Beinert of the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps, at Rhoads Hospital in New Hartford, New York. Both would settle in Osseo, Minnesota for several decades where they raised their family, followed by Northern Minnesota, owning and operating the Whispering Waters Resort on East Lost Lake. |
