Narrative

BG Kennedy retired from the Minnesota National Guard in March, 2007 after nearly 37 years of service. His last assignment was the Assistant Adjutant General – Operations for the Minnesota National Guard Joint Force Headquarters. As the Assistant Adjutant General, he was a chief advisor to the Adjutant General on matters pertaining to Army National Guard operations, training and readiness. He began his military career began when he enlisted into the National Guard on 30 June 1970. He was awarded a direct commission as an officer in the Adjutant General corps in February 1979. He completed his Finance Officer Branch qualification in 1994. His assignments have included commander of the 47th Adjutant General Company, commander of the 147th Finance Battalion, and commander of the 84th Troop Command. Other assignments have included Secretary to the General Staff for the 47th Infantry Division, Secretary to the General Staff for Minnesota State Area Command and Executive Officer for the 84th Troop Command, Chief of Mobilization and Readiness, Directorate of Plans Operations and Training, State Area Command. He was inducted into the Minnesota National Guard Court of Honor in October of 2012.
