NarrativeServed in Vietnam with the 1st Cav in various capacities after training as a mortar gunner at Fort Jackson then OJT finance clerk at Fort Polk. Initial service in Vietnam was with D 1/8 as an RTO then back to base camp doing company clerk job then on the the 15th Admin as a personal aid for Major Curtis Lee (Thief River Falls) then NCO in the replacement detachment processing GIs in and out of the Cav. Received the usual awards including most notably a Combat Infantry Badge. Rotated back to Ft. Lewis and processed out of active duty on December 21, 1967. |
